Luigi ‘Gigi’ Villoresi and Frederico Giberti, with the new Maserati 4CLT/48 before testing at Monza, Italy in 1948. One of Italy’s best drivers, he drove as number one for Maserati. The new Fantuzzi-bodied Maserati Grand Prix car, the type 4CLT/48, first appeared at the San Remo Grand Prix in May 1948 and became better known as the ‘San Remo Maserati’ after Alberto Ascari and Villoresi finished first and second in its first race.
