Ralph DePalma at the wheel of the Packard special racing model after winning the Grand Prize race at the Santa Monica circuit in 1918. Known as “905”, because of the cubic inch displacement of its 12-cylinder engine, it was driven by the great Ralph DePalma
to a string of success, including seting a one-mile straight-away record of 149.9 mph at Daytona, and the standing-mile record of 92.71 mph, that stood in the unlimited class for more than thirty years.
