The ferocious power of Castellotti’s new 6-cylinder car allowed it to catch up with the Mercedes 300SLR of Stirling Moss and Dennis Jenkinson in less than 150 kilometers, and to keep the lead right up to the check point at Ravenna, but persistent tire problems eventually resulted in retirement. |
