The German Grand Prix was regarded as the most important race of the year and in 1937 350,000 spectators crowded the Nurburg Ring to watch the might of Mercedes-Benz and Auto-Union do battle. Each team had entered five cars but Mercedes, under the direction of Alfred Neubauer, were having a fabulous racing year with the all conquering W125’s, and were determined to go all out for the win.
